Boyd-Buchanan Girls Fall In Class A State Sectional

The Boyd-Buchanan Lady Buc basketball team ended their season Saturday night with a 66-50 Class A sectional loss to visiting Pickett County.

Senior Maddie Wright, who will continue her basketball career next year at Belmont, finished her Lady Buc basketball career with a 30 point effort. 

Pickett County's Abbi Buck hit three-three pointers in the first quarter to help Pickett County jump out to a 20-12 lead in the first quarter. 

The Lady Bucs closed that lead to 33-27 at the half.

Pickett County out scored the Lady Bucs 20-12 in the third quarter taking a 53-39 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Boyd-Buchanan would close the lead to eight but Pickett County made 11 of 12 free throws in the final quarter to earn the sectional win and a trip to the Class A state tournament. 

Pickett County was led by Tristen McClellan with 21 and Courtney Pritchett with 18.
