Prep Tennis: Notre Dame Claims Two District Titles

Collegedale in 5 A-AA District Finals

It was a clean sweep and a pair of district 4 A-AA titles for the Notre Dame tennis program Tuesday at The Champions Club as the Irish girls blanked Signal Mountain, 9-0, and the boys topped the Eagles, 7-2.

Led by senior J.R. Davis with singles and doubles wins, the Notre Dame boys claimed the district tennis title for the first time since 2013, while the Irish girls won their third straight championship..

On the girls side, Sara Faith Ingell led the way with wins at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles (with Mary Margaret Haywood) to improve to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the district.

In District 5 A-AA, Collegedale boys and girls advanced to the district finals with semifinal wins against Grace (boys) and defending district champion Boyd Buchanan (girls).

Collegedale hosts boys and girls finals Thursday.
