Bessie Viola Swanger Grant, 98, of Lewis Chapel, Tennessee, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Allen Grant; sons, Darvin Winford and Allen Leon Grant; parents, Martin and Elizabeth Turner Swanger; brothers, Azze, Johnny, Victor and Joe Swanger; and sisters, Marty Swanger Edwards, NoraSwanger Cranmore, Lillas Swanger Johnson and Ellen Swanger Cooley.
Survivors include her daughters, Esther Lee and Audrey (Bryan) Gibson; sons, Vernon Eugene "Gene" (Ruby) Gran and Ellis Elbert "Snooks" (Martha) Grant; daughter-in-law Judy Grant Farley; 99 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special nephews, James and Nannie, Claude and Inez Grant.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CDT Sunday, April 10, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Smith and Bro. Matt Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Varner Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network or NHC Sequatchie of Dunlap.
