Southern Hosts 5K To Support Autism Awareness Month

  • Saturday, April 9, 2016

In light of Autism Awareness month, students in a fitness class at Southern Adventist University have partnered with the campus’ Disability Support Services office to host a community-wide 5K on April 22 at 3 p.m.

The event takes place on Southern’s campus and proceeds from the event benefit autism-related work with college students. The 5K’s theme is “Be Who You Want to Be” and participants are encouraged to wear costumes to express who they truly are, without the labels and stigmas society gives to those who are different. There is a $50 prize for best costume!

There is a $10 pre-registration fee for non-students ($15 on race day) and includes a Fit for Eternity T-shirt. On-site registration begins at 2:30 p.m.

For more information, e-mail jsloan@southern.edu or call (423) 236-2595.
