With Dalton State joining William Carey and SCAD Savannah in being first off the box on hole 1 this morning, players from the three teams completed most of the second round on Thursday in the National Association of Intercollege Athletics Women's Golf Championships at Savannah Quarters Country Club.

The Dalton State women had varying results when what had been a pretty good day for golf came to a halt with a lightning delay.  The Roadrunners' Rachel Rebne and Katie Dalton had just finished their rounds and Julia McQuilken has set to hit her approach shot on the 18th fairway when the horn sounded.
Caroline Griffin was also playing the final hole. DS first day leader Erika Wardzinski wasn't far behind on the course.

"I thought that we played really well today," said DS Coach Jim McGrew. "I hate that we did not get finished but we will go back tomorrow and try and finish what we have left as strong as possible. Then it will be a matter of waiting it out to see where we finish."

A frustrating week for attempting to play golf had another turn. A drenching rainstorm and accompanying lightning forced further suspension until 10 a.m. Friday. Officials are hoping to get in half of the planned 72-hole tournament before declaring a 2016 champion.

"I hate it for our players," said McGrew. "Unfortunately we have no control over the weather."
