Loretta Gordon, 77, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in a local hospital.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 20 years. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry, gardening and bird watching. She was also a member of the Business Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Gordon, brothers, Carl Burney, Joe Burney, Richard Burney, John Burney, Jim Burney, David Burney and Dan Burney, sisters, Alice Kay and Tina Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Doug) Onbey, sons, Kenneth Eugene Thornton and Chris Thornton, step-children, Nick Gordon, Lora (Jeff) Ford, Kimberly (Dana) Goss and Crystal (Kenny) Pitts, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, Patsy Thacker, brother, Ronald Burney and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rock Spring Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
