green|spaces is adding two more companies to the growing list of green|light certified businesses – River City Company and The Strand Hair Salon.
"green|light, a program of green|spaces, assists local businesses of all sizes and industries to be more sustainable in daily operations. Companies focus on a variety of areas including energy, water, recycling, green cleaning, landscaping, purchasing policies and transportation. They are encouraged to create eco-policies and green teams that oversee the implementation and creating a culture of sustainability," officials said.
“As an organization that has been involved in and promoted sustainability for over 30 years, River City Company is proud to be recognized for our efforts in achieving the green|light certification” said Kim White, CEO of River City Company.
“From adding motion sensors to our office lighting, expanding and encouraging recycling and promoting biking and walking, we know that making small changes in how we do business adds up to big results. By working together as a team on all these initiatives, we strengthened our company culture. A big thanks to green|spaces for encouraging and promoting companies to participate in sustainable practices.”
For The Strand Hair Salon Owner Rachel McCoy, participating in green|light was about doing more for the community. “Providing our customers with the best hair is our top priority. Providing that in an environment that gives back to our community and our planet is our life,” Mr. McCoy said. "The Strand chose to go paperless, change out all light bulbs to LED lights, use green cleaning products and donate hair to non-profit organizations like Matter of Trust."
