Willie Ruth Simmons Mills, 92, of Pikeville, Tennessee, died on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at NHC Healthcare. She was a member of Wheeler Hill church of Christ.
Mrs. Mills received her formal education in Bledsoe County. She has earned two degrees from Tennessee Technological University, B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Elementary Counseling and Guidance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. Mills Jr.; son, Allen Mills; parents, William and Iantha Simmons; two brothers, Charles and Garlen Simmons; two sisters, Clara Mooneyham and Vera Wallace. She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Fisher, Chattanooga, Carolyn (Tommy) Terry, Pikeville; son, William "Buster" (Helen Richardson) Mills, Pikeville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve Reel) Terry, Julia (Steve) Miller, Robert (Katrina) Fisher, Barrett (Anna) Fisher, Iantha (Jeremy) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Alexis Simmons, Zade Miller, Rett Fisher; sister, Donna (Jimmy) Boynton, Pikeville; brother-in-law, Gene Mills, Signal Mountain; and several nieces and nephews; and faithful dog, Honey.
Family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, from 4-6 p.m. CDT at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, at 6 p.m. CDT at Wheeler Hill church of Christ with Minister Dale Barger officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Mt. Crest Volunteer Fire Department.
