The Bradley County Sheriff Office conducted a special saturation this past weekend, which included a D.U.I. checkpoint conducted on the inbound and outbound lanes of 64 Highway/Durkee Road.

During the checkpoint B.C.S.O.’s Public Safety Unit hosted the Cleveland Police Department, Charleston Police Department, Tennessee Highway Safety Office, Crossville Police Department, Bradley County Health Department, and 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to combat drivers under the influence of intoxicants. This joint effort resulted in over 1300 vehicles being checked throughout the course of the checkpoint, and the Bradley County Health Department replacing seven child restraint seats inside vehicles.

This saturated patrol resulted in 17 arrests and 10 citations issued. When combining saturated patrols with standard patrol shifts stats there were 130 criminal offenses were charged though the Bradley County General Sessions Court over the past weekend.

Sheriff Eric Watson said, "The Bradley County Sheriff Office is committed to protecting the lives of our citizens through preventive measures like D.U.I. checkpoints during roadway travel. The B.C.S.O. Public Safety Unit has launched the “Summer Safety Campaign” which will focus on protecting the roadways during the summer months. Also, our Marine Unit has begun patrolling the waterways in order to promote boater safety.”
