James A. Hatfield, 85, of Ooltewah, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Chattanooga. He served in the U.S. Navy, Submarine Service from 1948-1952, he served on the Sterlett and the Scabbardfish.  He was employed as an industrial engineer at Modern Maid Stove Works, Jackson Water Heater, and plant manager at Knox Porcelain, Knoxville. He retired in 1990.

James was a man who loved his family and friends wholly, once you met him and became part of his life, it was forever.  He always had amazing advice and a great sense of humor that never failed to put a smile on your face.  We, his family and close friends, are stronger, braver, and blessed to have had such an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend in our lives.

All he wanted out of life was to love and provide for his family and he exceeded at that in every possible way.  He will be missed and we will live the remainder of our lives on this earth in a way that makes him proud.  We love you Daddy….until we meet again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Electra Bethy Hatfield; brother, William Fred Hatfield.
