UTC Students To See Lowest Tuition Increase In 30 Years

  • Friday, July 1, 2016

UTC students this fall will see the lowest tuition increase in more than 30 years, officials said.

At their last meeting, the University of Tennessee board of trustees approved an undergraduate and graduate maintenance fee increase of just 2.2 percent for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Online students will pay the 2.2 percent increase in maintenance fees, although the online support fee is not changing.

At UTC, undergraduate, in-state students attending full-time will pay maintenance fees plus other fees totaling $4,272 per semester, an increase of $94 per semester.  A full-time in-state graduate student will pay maintenance and other fees totaling $4,938 per semester, an increase of $103.

The entire updated fee schedule is posted here.

This marks the lowest tuition increases at all UT campuses in more than 30 years, thanks to increased state appropriations and the University’s commitment to developing a sustainable long-term business model, officials said.

In other Board action:

•Compensation plans for each campus were approved. Eligible employees at UTC will receive a 3 percent across the board increase.

•Differential tuition of $56 per credit hour for the UTC Doctoral programs in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy was approved.

•A $10 International Education fee per semester for undergraduate and graduate students.

•The Board approved a $500 seat reservation fee for the Nursing Practitioner and the Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree programs.

In addition to the above increases, UTC students will also see a 4 percent increase in meal plans and a 3 percent increase for all parking decals for faculty, staff, and students.
