Covenant Men Fall To Berry 2-1

 Despite an early second half goal, the Covenant men's soccer team was unable to catch up to Berry, dropping the non-conference season opener by a score of 2-1 on Thursday night at a packed Scotland Yard.

Covenant is 0-1, while the Vikings are now 1-0. 

The first goal of the contest came from Berry midfielder Daniel Shaw in the 24th minute, after Covenant keeper Jonathan Crossman fumbled a ball inside the box. Berry scored again eight minutes into the second half, this time from a shot 10 yards out by Jake Williamson, assisted by Tristen Turpin.

Covenant responded soon after the Vikings' second goal with a successful penalty kick by Nate Mackey in the 56th minute, but despite a late offensive push the Scots were never able to find the equalizer.

Berry keeper Carson Oakes started the first half and collected the win, and is now 1-0 for the season.
Jake Doiron played the second half and notched two saves.

Crossman (0-1) played the entire first half for the Scots and made four saves. Freshman Paul Lemay was in the goal for the second half and collected two saves.

The Vikings outshot the Scots 17-9, with eight shots on goal, but the teams each took six shots in the second half. Henry Paris led all Covenant players with three shots, while TJ Munzel took two
