Virginia Reel
Virginia Grier Reel, 81, died on September 19, 2016, in a local hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Jay Reel; parents, Willie Lee and Irene Grier; sisters, Hattie Jean Clift and Mary Frances Grier.
Survivors include her husband, James Earl Reel; daughter, Janice (Joseph) Burse; son, Wayne (Gwendolyn) Reel; brothers, Herman (Gloria) Grier, Hubert Grier, Willie Lee (Minnie) Grier, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Grier and Judy Grier; 5 grandchildren, Latrecia (Jessie) Montgomery, Shaun (Trina) Reel, Tiffany (Reginald) Sanders, Wayne (Stephanie) Reel, Jr., LaShaundra (Kenneth) Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and longtime best friend, Mrs. India Chambers.
The service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Union Hill MB Church with Reverend Samuel R. Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday, Sept. 26, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
