Sondra Darlene Nicholas, 57, of Soddy Daisy, died on Friday, September 23, 2016.

She lived most of her life in the Hixson and Soddy Daisy area and enjoyed visiting The Vineyard Church. Sondra was a teacher for 15 years at the Daisy Head Start. She had a love for children, being a “Nana”, family and the Tennessee Volunteers. She had incredible courage in the face of adversity and an ability to handle challenges with a sense of humor.

Sondra was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Nicholas; parents, Charlie and Elva Woy; sister, Brenda Minnick and brother, Charles Gionfriddo. 

Survivors are her daughter, Sondra Nichole Raines (Carl, Jr.); sisters, Barbara Gravitte (Roger) and Mary Atwood (Rick); brothers, Ronnie Gionfriddo (Jeanne) and Chuck Woy (Tracy); grandchildren, Corbin Isiah Raines and Sondra Vanessa Raines; mother-in-law, Virginia Coker (Bill) and several nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Scramble Alley Park behind Soddy Daisy City Hall. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank at www.chattfoodbank.org or 2009 Curtain Pole Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37406.
