Former Red Bank City Commissioner Retired From The Chattanooga Fire Department

William "Bill" T. Pippin, 73, of Red Bank, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at his home.

William was a retired captain commander with the Chattanooga Fire Department. He was Red Bank City commissioner from 1982 to 1986, served multiple terms as Chairman of the Hamilton County Service Review Board and he received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Red Bank High School Class of 1962.

William’s passion for rebuilding antique classic cars has been a hobby for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

William was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and served as Sunday School superintendent.

His father, James William Pippin, his mother, Treva Pippin Hamill, step-father, Alfred Hamill, sister, Jo Rooks, and brother, James Ray Pippin preceded him in death.

William is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of 48 years, one daughter, Cheryl Pippin Jackson, of Chattanooga, (Chuck) Husband, one grandson, Brady Jackson, sister, Shirley Massengale of Red Bank and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, at Lane Funeral Home, Red Bank with Pastor Dale Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Barron, Charlie Foster, Steve Freer, Greg Gray, Jon Hill, Mike Massengale, Danny Pippin, Chris Roberts, Jason Steadman, Billy Stone and Tommy Wilkerson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Bingham, Tom Pannell, David Hullendar, William Madison, Ed Talley and special friends of the Chattanooga Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Immune Deficiency Foundation in honor of William and his precious daughter Cheryl who has been battling this terrible disease for the past three years. Donations can also be made to the Forgotten Child Fund in memory of William.
