Hixson Beats East Ridge For 6-AA Second Seed

CCS, Notre Dame Other Volleyball Winners Thursday

The Hixson Wildcats secured a second seed in next week’s District 6-AA volleyball tournament with a 3-0 win over East Ridge while Notre Dame had already secured a second seed in the 7-AA tournament before the Lady Irish defeated Bledsoe County, 3-0.

And the Chattanooga Christian Lady Chargers won a pair of matches at Red Bank, defeating Silverdale 2-1 and Red Bank 2-0.

Hixson improved to 14-18 overall with its 25-18, 25-15, 25-22 win over the Lady Pioneers as Abby Rector had eight kills, Marly Fitzpatrick a dozen digs and Sam Dove 16 assists for the winning Lady Wildcats.

Claire VanderWerf had 13 kills and Sarah Desai 27 assists as Notre Dame improved to 17-9 overall and 8-2 in district play with its 25-18, 25-17 and 25-15 win over the Lady Warriors.

The CCS Lady Chargers made themselves feel right at home in Red Bank’s Susan Ingram Thurman Gymnasium after beating Silverdale by scores of 25-16, 22-25 and 17-15.  That was followed by a 25-19, 25-16 win over Red Bank as CCS improved to 19-17 overall.

A.J. Johnson had 14 kills, Rachel Kay 15 assists and Anna Linkous 10 digs in that first match over Silverdale while Cassie Curry had 11 kills, Linkous 15 digs and Kay a dozen assists in the win over Red Bank.

Marjorie Smith had 11 kills and a dozen blocks for Red Bank while Cassidy Payne had 22 digs.  Hannah Wood also had a double-double with 11 digs and 13 assists.
