Follett, Gordon

Retired From Chattanooga Boiler & Tank Company After 40 Years

  • Saturday, December 16, 2017

Gordon Follett died on December 14, 2017, at Soddy Daisy Health Care Center, at the age of 88.

Gordon retired from Chattanooga Boiler & Tank Company with 40 years of service. He enjoyed the job of purchasing manager and became the “go to” man for any problems or needs of coworkers.  As a wordsmith, he also enjoyed New York Times crossword puzzles, and MAD Magazine stimulated his dry sense of humor.

Gordon served on the board of deacons at Westminster Presbyterian Church and as a leader of the Boys’ Brigade program for several years. He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard from 1948 to 1952. He was a wonderful, kind, loving husband, father, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Gladys Follett, and sister, Marian Follett Barnes.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 67 years, Charlotte Harris Follett; one daughter, Carol Follett Waffel; two sons, Glenn and Mark Follett, all of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Elke Waffel Dupuie (Doug) of Denver; grandson, Rev. Derek Waffel (Eve), and great-grandsons Luke Andrew and Joseph Martin Waffel, all of Pascagoula, Mississippi; sister Susan Follett Blevins Welch (Albert), of Houston, Texas, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thanks to the staff at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center and Hearth Hospice for their loving care.

There will be no funeral and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted with Covenant Funeral & Crematory; Crox family owned and operated, www.CovenantFuneral.com.
