Richard T. Byers, 88, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers.
He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded two Purple Hearts.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Edith Byers of Chatsworth, David and Wanda Byers of Dalton and Jerry Byers of Resaca; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 21, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from noon until the service time at 2 p.m.
