I Applaud Senator Corker

  • Thursday, March 30, 2017

Senator Corker is right. On an issue as important and diverse as healthcare, both parties should be working together to find bi-partisan solutions.

In my view, Obamacare has done four important things that Republicans should work to ensure remains in any new plan they pass.

Allows children to stay on their parents insurance plan until age 26.

Prevents insurance companies from denying coverage due to a pre-existing condition.

Insures approximately 24 million people who previously did not have the ability to obtain health insurance.

Slowed the overall growth of healthcare cost in America. In other words, statistics show overall healthcare cost pre-Obamacare were rising at a sharper rate than they are post-Obamacare.

So, all of these seem to be positive developments that should remain or be improved upon in any Republican replacement plan.

Again, I appreciate Senator Corker on CBS This Morning urging Speaker Ryan to work with both parties on this important issue.
