John Bartlett “Bart” Quinn
John Bartlett “Bart” Quinn, a beloved son, husband, father, and friend died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He was 55.
 
Mr. Quinn was an attorney with the Chambliss, Bahner and Stophel Law Firm for many years and a shareholder who was known for his exceptional work as a labor and employment lawyer. He represented his clients with passion but also had a light-hearted side which was expressed through his keen sense of humor and quick wit.
 
“We are grateful for the time we had with him and are better for having known and worked with him,” the firm said in a statement.
 
Also civic minded, Mr. Quinn served on the Tennessee Trial Court Vacancy Commission, the Tennessee Judicial Nominating Committee, was a Fellow of the Chattanooga Bar Foundation, was chairman of the City of Chattanooga Transportation Board, was former secretary of the Hamilton County Election Commission, and was campaign director for Tennessee state Senator Bo Watson, a longtime close friend.
 
Born on May 25, 1961, Mr. Quinn attended Normal Park Elementary School, graduated from Boyd-Buchanan High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before receiving his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville.
 
He was a longtime member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church, the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and the Sam’s Club.
 
Bart loved the outdoors hiking with his family or golfing with his friends. He was a devoted son, husband, father and friend who always put his family ahead of any personal interests. His compassion, wit and sharp intellect will be sorely missed. 
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Quinn.
 
Survivors include his mother, Katie Quinn; wife, Jan Quinn; daughters: Emily Quinn Thomsen, Margaret Quinn, and Sarah Quinn; granddaughter, Quinn Thomsen; brother: Robert Quinn (Carla); sisters, Mary Kay Fulcher (Mark), Ellen Behrends (Chris); nieces and nephews, Ben, Daniel and Jacob Fulcher, Anna and John Behrends; and mother-in-law, Joyce Burroughs.
 
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 13, at 3 p.m. at First-Centenary United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Douglas Fairbanks officiating.
 
Family and friends will gather after the service at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club
 
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
