Benjamin “Ben” Gray Elliott, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on May 18, 2017.

He was born in Knoxville, on Aug. 22, 1976, and moved to Chattanooga in 1986 with his family.

Ben was an active member at Red Bank Church of Christ for several years. He served as a deacon and adult Sunday School teacher. He was lovingly known as “Doctor” Ben by many children and adults because of a character he developed and played to attract children to Red Bank’s Sunday night children’s program. He worked at Hamilton County Juvenile Court for 18 years and developed many close friendships there. He was a graduate of Boyd Buchanan High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel; son, Jacob; daughter, Abigail “Abby”; parents, Walter and Diane Elliott; brother, Steve (Jennifer) Elliott; nephews, Jack and Cooper; niece, Clara; several cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, from 4-6 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Minister Steve Lusk and Minister Tommy Stone.  A graveside service to follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greater Chattanooga Christian Services.

Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
