One Track Mind: Chattanooga Roller Girls Benefits Hart Gallery With Fourth Home Bout Of The Season

  • Thursday, August 17, 2017

Join the Chattanooga Roller Girls this Saturday for the fourth home bout of the 2017 season. The doors to the Chattanooga Convention Center open at 4 p.m. and the Chattanooga B-team, the B-Railers, kick off at 5 p.m. with a bout against the Piedmont Rollergirls. The Chattanooga Allstars face the Classic City Rollergirls at 7 p.m. The event ends around 9 p.m.

As CRG is a not-for-profit, every bout benefits a local charity. This event's proceeds will go the Hart Gallery TN, a not-for-profit organization with the mission of offering homeless persons and other non-traditional artists an opportunity to create and sell their artwork for their benefit.

"The lovely artists at the Hart Gallery designed this bout’s poster. They offer weekly community-based art classes where we take art materials, volunteers, and staff to resource agencies that can provide class space. These classes encompass a diverse population throughout Chattanooga including the homeless and transient community, low-income seniors, at-risk inner-city youth, persons facing mental-health issues or physical challenges, as well as many others in need. This bout’s half-time event will be 'gurling,' where members of the audience will be selected to push skaters in a race around the track. For a chance at an awesome prize, bring a much needed art supply donation (unopened paint, markers, canvas, drop cloths, etc.) and be entered to win a $50 gift card from their neighbors at Main Line Ink.

"For even more fun, join the online auction for 'Busts and Butts.' Skaters have created molds of their chests and rumps and decorated them with help from the Hart Gallery artists. All proceeds from the auction will go to Malice ‘n Wonderlust, a Chattanooga Roller Girl battling breast cancer. Send your bid to the chattanoogarollergirls@gmail.com. The auction will last through the Oct. 13, the night before the final home bout of the season. Message Chattanooga Roller Girls on Facebook for more details," officials said.

Get tickets from your favorite derby folk or online at http://m.bpt.me/event/3020571 up to the night before the bout. Presale tickets are $10 or $12 at the door. Military with ID is $8, kids aged six-12 are $5, and kids 5 and under are free. You can also purchase tickets from any local sponsors, including Four Bridges Outfitters, Infinity Flux, Neidlov's Breadworks, Swann Chiropractic, or Main Line Ink. This is a family-friendly event where concessions (and even adult beverages) are available for purchase.
