Mocs Volleyball Hosts Blue And Gold Game Saturday

  • Friday, August 18, 2017
With the 2017 regular season on the near horizon, the Chattanooga Mocs volleyball program is set to host their annual Blue and Gold intra-squad scrimmage in Maclellan Gymnasium on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The scrimmage is FREE admission as the Mocs volleyball program and head coach Travis Filar encourages fans to come out and grab their first glimpse of the roster for the upcoming season.

"I know we all are excited within our program to be in front of our great fans once again this Saturday, in addition to being thankful for the opportunity to showcase our outstanding group of committed and hard-working student-athletes that will make up our 2017 Chattanooga Volleyball Family," said Filar.

Maclellan Gymnasium has been quite the home court advantage for the Mocs in recent time.
Chattanooga has played to a 26-3 record at home since 2015 as it's a testament to the great fans of the program.

"Maclellan Gym has been incredible to us as we have gone 26-3 over the last two seasons at home, and I believe our home crowd will be in for another exciting volleyball season this fall."

The Blue and Gold scrimmage wraps up the preseason camp schedule and allows the student-athletes to improve while facing a match-like atmosphere. Filar is excited about the growth and potential of this season's team.
"We are by far, not a finished product at this point in time, but I have loved our team's growth throughout preseason camp.

"I know we will be a team that will be challenging to play at home, and one that will develop and improve throughout the year."

Chattanooga opens up the regular season against North Dakota, a 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, on Friday, August 25 at 2 p.m. in Oxford, Miss., as part of the Ole Miss Invitational. They'll round out the tournament with matches against Florida A&M, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech.
