Chattanooga Women Golfers Finish 12th At Vandy

FRANKLIN, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team ended up 12th at the highly-competitive Mason Rudolph Championships. The Mocs turned in 297 over the final 18 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club for a total of 882 over 54 holes on the North Course.

 

That put UTC nine shots behind North Carolina in 11th at 873 and seven clear of UCF in 13th. Middle Tennessee was 14th with 890, while Charlotte finished 15th at 899.

 

Megan Woods and Monica San Juan led the day with 1-over 73s.

Cristina Perez shot 75, one ahead of Maddy McDanel at 76. Holly Morgan had the drop score with an 80.

 

Woods’ 218 tied for 40th overall. That was two ahead of Perez at 220. Morgan was next with 225 followed by San Juan at 226. McDanel was close behind her shooting 228.

 

Arkansas claimed the team title with a 41-under 821. That was six ahead of Alabama’s 829. The Razorbacks and Crimson Tide shared the individual winner as Marai Fassi (Ark.) and Lauren Stephenson (Ala.) shared the win with twin 64s leading to 16-under 200 totals.

 

NOTES

- Woods tied the low 54-hole total for a Moc in the event with her 2-over 218.

- Woods posted 12 of the Mocs 23 birdies on the counting cards.

- Perez is just 2-over par over her last 90 holes (362) at the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.

 

NEXT UP

The Mocs return to action later this week at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event is Sept. 22-25 (Fri.-Sun.) at the Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C.
