Section Of Mountain Creek Road To Be Closed Jan. 22-May 21 For Stabilization Of Retaining Wall

  • Friday, January 12, 2018

The City of Chattanooga Public Works Department will soon be stabilizing a failing section of Mountain Creek Road. Stabilization requires the construction of a retaining wall along the western edge of pavement located between 5007 and 5117 Mountain Creek Road.

The construction zone will involve approximately 500 linear feet and encompass the entire width of the roadway for mobilization of personnel, heavy equipment, material storage, and excavation.

Public Works will mobilize its forces and close the road beginning Jan. 22. Currently, it is scheduled to reopen by May 21, but completion is subject to delay, due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Detours will be posted directing access to properties north of the construction zone via Highway 27 to Mountain Creek Road, and access to properties south of the construction zone via Highway 27 to Morrison Springs Road. For public safety, all vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic will be prohibited during the closure within the construction zone.
