David Lindsay Bishop, Jr., 86, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away October 21, 2018.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1931, to the late Annie Elizabeth and David L. Bishop Sr.
David was a former employee at the Chattanooga Times from 1951 till 1982. In 1979 he and Lydia, who were avid runners, opened Bishop’s Running Center on Cassandra Smith Road. He won more than 200 medals and trophies during his running career. He did his last State Senior Olympics in 2014. When he retired it was time to slow down, enjoy and travel.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ms. Lydia Porter-Bishop.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.
A private burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 12–1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center for taking good care of David.
