Viet Nam Veteran Retired From Combustion Engineering And TVA

James Kenneth Stephenson, 76, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Rufus and Emma Selvidge Stephenson, sisters, Ruth S. Cook, Inez Stephenson, Marjiorie S. Gravitt, and brother, Larry D. Stephenson.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne B. Stephenson, daughter, Lori (Jimmy) Stamey and granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Stamey, one sister, Cheryl (Benny) Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

Ken was a member of Soddy United Methodist Church and Daisy Masonic Lodge #706. He was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He served in the U. S. Naval Construction Battalions (Seabees).  He was a retired machinist from Combustion Engineering and TVA. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his granddaughter’s ballet recitals.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, in the funeral home chapel, with Bishop Jackie Penney officiating. Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13.
