Terry, Carolyn Layne (Whitwell)

Carolyn Layne Terry, 69, of Whitwell, passed away Monday March 19, 2018 at her home, surrounded by family. 

Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Nannie Layne; sister, Ann Carr; and grandparents, Roy and Alma Hamblen and Foster and Mary Layne.

She was retired from Memorial Hospital, working as a nurse for 27 years. She was a member of South Whitwell Baptist Church. 

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 53 years,  Roy Terry; three children, Roy L. Terry of Walling, Tn., Ronnie (Christie) Terry of Dunlap and Beth (Nathan) Powell of Whitwell; sister, Kathy (David) Walden of Whitwell; brother, Troy Layne of Cartwright; four grandchildren, Bodie Terry, Ryker Terry, Jordan Powell and Mia Powell; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. 

Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 and noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the South Whitwell Baptist Church, with Channing Kilgore and Roy L. Terry officiating.  Rev. Darrell Winters will be officiating at graveside. Interment at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care during Carolyn’s illness.
