Catherine Chaney Saunders, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her daughter’s residence in Calhoun, Georgia.   

She was born on May 1, 1937 to the late Leon Chaney, Sr. and Allie Bell Austin Chaney.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Saunders, Sr.; son, Robert Lee Saunders, Jr., and a dear friend, C.J. Banks. 

Survivors are her one daughter, Cathy Boston of Calhoun; four sons, William Saunders of Dalton, Georgia, Kenneth, Mark Anthony, and Ray Saunders of Covington, Ky.; one sister, Minnie Jackson of Dalton; one uncle, A. D. Chaney of Covington; 48 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Johnny Foster officiating.  Her remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday. 

Interment will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
