Army Veteran Was Longtime Chattanooga City Teacher

William Leach
William Scott Leach, 78, of Ooltewah, a well-known artist, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church.  Born December 18, 1938, he was the son of the late William L., Sr. and Norma Robbins Leach. He was a 1958 graduate of City High School and spent the next three years serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in the state of New York. After the military, he returned home and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from University of Chattanooga. He taught in the Chattanooga City School system for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He ended his teaching career at the Chattanooga Performing Arts School, where he established the Visual Arts program. The Art Department was named in his honor. He was a volunteer in the Prison Ministry for 19 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Judy S. Leach; brother, James Robbin Leach; and adopted sister, Ann Freeman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating.
 The family will receive friends from 12-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, before the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
