Barge Design Solutions Awards Bethlehem Center $2,500 Grant

  • Monday, June 18, 2018

Barge Design Solutions is awarding the Bethlehem Center’s Read to Lead Academy a community fund grant in the amount of $2,500 to purchase new playground equipment for the over 100 students that attend the Bethlehem Center.

The Read to Lead Academy provides youth in South Chattanooga with a safe place after school and during the summer where they can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually, said officials.

“Receiving this grant allows us to have a wonderful green space with swings to create a fun and inviting space for the children that play here,” said Jennifer Johnson, administration and development assistant for the Bethlehem Center. “This is so important because it’s been proven that swinging can soothe children who experience trauma.”

A presentation of the check will take place on Wednesday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Center at 200 W 38th St.
