City Council Approves 4 Short Term Vacation Rental Applications

  • Tuesday, June 26, 2018

The City Council on Tuesday approved four short term vacation rental applications, including one where there was opposition.

A neighbor who rents his property was opposed to the request by April Pardo at 604 Van Dyke St. Ms. Pardo said she should be allowed to earn income from her property just as the man who rents does.

Councilman Chip Henderson moved for approval, noting that if there are two violations within a year the certificate can be revoked.

The council also approved an application by Laura Davis/Bryan Thompson at 1210 Russell St., an application by John Queen, Jr. for 909 Barton Ave., and an application by Julie Brackett at 905 Hixson Pike.

A request by Robert Kenz at 563 S. Crest Road was delayed for a week because Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod was absent. The property is in her district. There was opposition present.
