US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with numerous activities occurring in the median of US-27.
Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the left traffic lane in both the northbound and southbound directions. Between the hours of 7-10 p.m. on Thursday a temporary lane closure will be in place for the right lane of northbound US-27 from I-24 to W. 20th Street to set barrier rail for protection of the work area needed to install a footing for overhead signing. Temporary ramp closures will be in place for northbound US-27 off ramp to W. 4th St., southbound US-27 off ramp to W. 4th Street and the W. 4th Street on ramp to US-27 southbound. Northbound US-27 traffic exiting to W. 4th Street will be redirected to Exit 1B, turning right on to M. L. King Boulevard, then left on Chestnut Street, north to W. 4th Street. Southbound US-27 traffic exiting to W. 4th Street will be redirected to Exit 1B merging onto M. L. King Boulevard eastbound, then left on Chestnut Street, northbound to W. 4th Street. Westbound W. 4th Street traffic to southbound US-27 will be detoured north on US-27 exiting to Manufactures Road, turning left onto Manufactures Road and then turning right to the southbound US-27 on ramp. These ramp closures are to facilitate bridge beam installation over W. 4th Street. The ramp closure is for three nights, Monday night through Wednesday night from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. The actual closure is scheduled for Monday night, weather permitting. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed. This closure will be in place through September. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary. RESTRICTIONS: Northbound US-27 off-ramp Exit 1C to 4th Street is restricted to a maximum width of 11 Feet. SR-8 (US-127) slope repair of Signal Mountain Boulevard at 15.9: During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed while performing slope stabilization operations. Temporary traffic signals are in place on either end of the project to control traffic. Additionally the speed limit has been lowered to 20 MPH in the construction zone. Additional flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. RESTRICTIONS: Reduced to one 10-foot 5-inch lane Estimated project completion date is September. [GSI/Maintenance/MAINT]
SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road: During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84): The contractor has begun lowering manholes and catch basins. This will take place Monday through Friday between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This work may affect either direction of US-11/64 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) between Moore Road and Airport Road. The contractor will begin milling and paving on Sunday, after which the contractor will have intermittent lane closures for resurfacing operations Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.
