The Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony invite the public to their first concerts of the season.
The Symphony Orchestra will perform Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists. Under the direction of Laurie Redmer Minner, the Symphony Orchestra will present “Symphony in D minor” by César Franck and “Concertino in A-flat major, op. 24” by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari. Additionally, special guest performer George Corbett will play “Prelude,” “Capriccio,” and “Adagio” on the English horn.
The Wind Symphony will perform Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists. Southern’s Wind Symphony, under the direction of Ken Parsons, will present a concert themed “Teach Us to Pray.” The event will feature pieces such as David Gillingham’s “Foundations,” Andrew Boysen, Jr.’s “All Creatures of Our God and King,” and J. Eric Schmidt’s “Confession” (from Symphony of Prayer).
