Creative Discovery Museum and the Chattanooga Office of Early Learning are collaborating on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Academy for early childhood educators. Made possible by $25,000 in funding from the city of Chattanooga, the STEAM Academy will provide 10 Head Start teachers with best practices for early childhood STEAM education.

The STEAM Academy Fellows cohort will participate in monthly professional development sessions over the course of 10 months. An estimated 400 children will benefit from STEAM Academy in the first year.

The STEAM Academy Fellows Cohort will be recognized during a kick off ceremony held Wednesday at CDM. Candy Johnson, senior advisor to Mayor Andy Berke, and Dr. Jayne Griffin, CDM director of education, will make brief remarks as part of the presentation.
