More than 400 students ranging between 8-18 and residing in neighborhoods spanning from Signal Mountain to East Chattanooga will descend on Highland Park Commons to participate in the 7th Annual Neighborhood Cup Soccer Tournament on Saturday.
Teams and fans will take a break at noon for a moment to celebrate the life of beloved friend and former teammate, Malaki Ward. Officials will honor Malaki's legacy by awarding the Malaki Ward Passion Memorial Award to one Chattanooga Sports Ministries player who has displayed enthusiasm and excitement for CSM --- both in friendships and in soccer throughout the season.
This award will be presented annually and coaches will nominate one of their players to be reviewed by a committee each year. The committee will select the winner and recognize the award recipient at the Annual Neighborhood Cup.
Games will take place between 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The Malaki Ward Passion Memorial Award Presentation will take place promptly at noon underneath the pavilion located at Highland Park Commons.
