Juanita “Shug” Buckner passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019.  

She was born to the late Sally “Nonie” and Elber Rogers on February 4, 1935 in Jasper, Tn.  

Juanita was a graduate of Marion County High School. She married Jack D. Buckner in 1953 and they have lived in Chattanooga since their marriage. 

Throughout her life Juanita has been a devout Christian and attended Kings Point Baptist Church.

She served as past president of the Hamilton County Democratic Organization and was retired from Dupont.

She was known for her generosity to her family and to her community.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Buckner; children, Sally and Wes; grandchildren, Aimie, Angie, Jackie and Brent; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Trevor, Cole and Olivia; sister, Linda Roach and brother, Paul Rogers; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 3 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Herman Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Tuesday, December 3 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
