Mary Watson
Mary Watson (Butch or Mamaw), 93 1/2, of North Georgia and Chattanooga area, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 7, 2020.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister (Butch), aunt, great aunt, and sweetest friend to anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting her. Her physical and Christian beauty was like a shining star. She was a longtime member of Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church in Rossville Georgia, retired from E. I. DuPont in Chattanooga, member of NARVE, and worship at Lupton Drive Baptist Church for the past 12 years.
Mary was born September 22, 1926 in Chattanooga to the late Mary Audilee (Stewart) Thompson and the light William Benton Thompson. Mary was the wife to Robert Arthur Watson of Chickamauga Georgia for 49 years.
She was the mother to Patricia S. Hackney and mother-in-law to Terri Hackney. She was a very involved “Mamaw” to Tabb Nance, Ginger (Nance) Dennis, Jon Dennis, Eddie and Kelli (Hackney) Burger, and Julie Hackney; great-grandmother to Jaxon Dennis, Laston Dennis, Kate (Burger) and Kaleb Julin, and Maggie Burger. She was the eldest sibling to the lake Charlie and Karen Thompson, Johnny (Gene) and Martha Thompson, Martha (Thompson) and the late Dale Payne, and Barbara (Thompson) and the late Thomas Wiley. Aunt to Kim (Wiley) Alridge, Pam (Wiley) and Darin Burns, Mary Ann (Wiley) and Tim Leathers, Diane (Payne) and Allen Hearn, Jeff and Cindy Payne, and William Thompson. Great aunt to Joseph Burns, Jordan (Leathers) and RJ Fontana and children, Ginger Leathers, April (Sorrano) and Brian Captuie and children, Megan (Sorrano) and Chris O’Saeild and children, Natalie (Hearn) and Dustin Smith and child, and Aliana Hearn.
The family would like to thank the Adoration Hospice Group: Amy, Lori, Sue, Amanda, Anita, Bridgett, Sierra, and Brother Jack for all their love and care! Also, a heartfelt thank you to her loving caregivers Linda and Kaitlyn!
A private family graveside ceremony officiated by Pastor Roger DeHart and Pastor Dustin Taylor from Lupton Drive Baptist Church. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
