  • Saturday, July 4, 2020
Marquetta “Marcy” Burris, 43, a life-long resident of Bradley County, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2020, after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

Marcy was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn West Burris; her grandparents, Rev. Bud and Eula West; and her aunt, Gladys Bullard.

Marcy was diagnosed with a brain tumor over 10 years ago, from which she became legally blind. Through all of her physical struggles she never gave up; she always kept a smile on her face and never complained. Marcy always kept a positive attitude, which inspired everyone around her; from total strangers to her family and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her father, E.L. Burris; her brother, Nathan Burris; a special aunt, Judy Toomey; her cousins, Ethan West, Kateland West, Gabe West, Josh West and Lucinda Ownbey; along with many more cousins and friends.

A Remembrance of Life Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel, with Dr. Joseph Bathe officiating. The interment will follow at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, with family and friends serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Monday from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
