Leslie Bernard Townsend, Sr. 59, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at his residence.
He was a 1978 graduate of Brainerd High School. He was a member at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Ministry. Leslie retired from Mueller Company as a machinist.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leslie Townsend, Jr.; father, William Townsend, Sr.; mother, Helen Satterwhite; grandparents, Johnny and Juanita Pride and Leola Lucas; brother, William Townsend, Jr.
Survivors include his sons, Robert (Britney) Hyter, II and Bernard (Derenda) Hyter; seven grandchildren; brothers, Alphonza (Denise) Townsend and Edmund (Carlotta) Townsend; sister, Deborah (William, III) Simpson, all of Chattanooga; aunt, Maxine Patterson of Memphis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Leslie will lie in state on Wednesday, July 15, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the family service to follow at 1 p.m. with Bishop William Simpson as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery.
