Retired From AT&T After More Than 30 Years

Virginia Ruth Horton Green, 89,  of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2020, in a local health care facility.    

She was retired from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. Mrs. Green was a member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday school class.  She was affectionately known to many as Granny Green. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Green; mother, Dessie McGuire Horton; father and step-mother, James S. & Ethel Horton; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Elaine Ivey; brother, James S. Horton, Jr.; sister-in-law, Nannie Lou Sampson; and step-sister, Geneva Blair.

Survivors include her daughter, Yolanda Green of Chattanooga; son, Garry (Sue) Green of Ringgold; step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Reverend John Ledford officiating.

Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ringgold, Georgia.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is requested that everyone adhere to the CDC regulations of social distancing when attending the visitation and service.   Face coverings are required by Hamilton County.   

Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church, 1312 Spring Creek Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.
