Johnny Joe McKinney, 70, of Harrison, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021.

Joe was born in Cleveland, Tn., to the late Johnny and Marie McKinney.  He was a 1969 graduate of Tyner High School.  Joe retired from Overnight Transport Company with over 35 years of service.  He was a member of New Shepherd Hill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher.  Joe was a longtime member of Harrison Masonic Lodge #114 F& AM, Past Master of Ooltewah Masonic Lodge #741 F&AM, Chattanooga York Rite Mason, and the Alhambra Shrine. 

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Sue McKinney and Jane McKinney Bonine; granddaughter, Brooke McKenzie Eaves. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Janet Quarles McKinney; children, Leatha (Jeff) Eaves and John (Angelia) McKinney; step-children, Deward Neal, Melissa Neal, and Tammy White; six grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; brother, Billy David (Renee) McKinney; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral and Masonic services for Joe will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, at the North Chapel with Brother Terry Plemons officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice, 7348 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.       

We respectfully request that "social distancing", wearing masks at all times, and all CDC measures be followed at the funeral home and cemetery. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
