Abilez, Geneva Ann

Geneva Ann Abilez, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in a local hospital.

She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was of the Baptist faith.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur and Covie McCune; siblings, John Arthur McCune, Nellie Ruth Roberts, Charlie Lewis McCune, Ettress McCune, and Willie James McCune; grandson, David Adrian Castro.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert Sylvester Abilez, Jr.; children, Andre (Moniqua) McCune of Chula Vista, CA, caregiver, LaWanda McCune Turner of Chattanooga, David (Monique) Abilez of Chula Vista, and Anthony (Cassandra) Abilez, Sr. of Murrieta, Ca.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Lorenzo (Annie) McCune of Lake City, Ga.; sisters, Clara Cox McCune (Wendell) Parker of San Diego, Ca., Mary Mercer of Atlanta, and Gloria (Kevin James) Harmon of San Diego, Ca.; great-aunt, Lillie Eldridge of McDonough, Ga.; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Geneva will lie in state on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor William Tramble, Jr. as the eulogist.

Burial will be on Monday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
