U.S. Army Veteran Retired From Honors Golf Course After Many Years

Robert Eugene “Gene” Ragsdale, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021, in a local hospital.  

He was born to William and Geneva Ragsdale on December 17, 1943.  He was a 1961 graduate of Howard High School.  Robert was a veteran in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with Mountain City Club and retired after 35 years from Honors Golf Course. 

Survivors include his significant other, Venita Reel; daughter, Pamela (Kenneth) Mynatt; son, Robert (Brooke) Ragsdale; stepdaughters, Gloria (John) Johnson and Donnella Russell; grandchildren, Kelsey Mynatt, Jocelyn Ragsdale and Naomi Ragsdale, all of Chattanooga, and Robert Ragsdale of Knoxville, TN; godchildren, Shaundra Smith, Demarcus Jones, and Tenisha Washington; siblings, Alvin Ragsdale, Michael Ragsdale, all of Chattanooga, Theresa Ragsdale-Patterson of Vero Beach, FL, Caroline Ragsdale-Moore of Arlington, TN, and Yvonne Ragsdale-Barrett of LaVergne, TN; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. 

Robert will lie in state on Wednesday, March 3, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Family services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ron Cook, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
