Thompson, David "Dave" John (LaFayette)

David “Dave” John Thompson, 68, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021.

Dave earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia and was an avid lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan.  He became director over mental health with the Lookout Mountain Community Service and later retired as director of drug court with Conasauga Drug Court in Dalton. He was a devout man of faith, who never wavered from his Catholic roots and later attended the LaFayette First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Jeanne Shivley Thompson; brother, Mike Thompson; and nephew, Bryan Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jan Waters Thompson; daughters, Christi Humphrey and Jene Pierce; grandchildren, Chelsea, Britani, Bryant, and Alexis; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Nancy) Thompson; and nephews, Tim, Chris, and Jonathan Thompson.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doyle Waters officiating.
