EPB Announces Signal Mountain Road Lane Closure Starting May 11

  • Monday, May 10, 2021

A short section of Signal Mountain Road will be reduced to one lane starting Tuesday between 9 a.m. -2 p.m.  EPB will be replacing a transmission pole as part of a routine maintenance schedule.  The work is expected to take about a week.

The lane closure will take place on Signal Mountain Road behind Signal Mountain Cement, 1201 Suck Creek Road.

This work is weather dependent.  Should weather or unforeseen circumstances cause delays, it will be rescheduled for a later date.

“We’ve scheduled this necessary work during the middle part of the day when there is typically less traffic in order to reduce inconvenience for our community,” said Grant Carriker, EPB Field Services Manager.

“We appreciate folks for having patience and driving more slowly in this area to keep other motorists and our field crews safe.”

There will be signage in the area alerting motorists of the lane closure and flaggers helping to direct traffic.  Drivers can plan for a short delay or take an alternate route up and down the mountain on the W Road or Roberts Mill Road between the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
