Dalton Sees Drop In November Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Dalton recorded an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in November, down eight-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 2.9 percent. 
 
"We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” said Comm. Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.” 
 
The labor force decreased in Dalton by 308 and ended the month with 57,898.
That number decreased by 897 when compared to November of 2021.
 
Dalton finished the month with 55,829 employed residents. That number increased by 180 over the month and went down by 1,265 when compared to the same time a year ago.
 
Dalton ended November with 67,100 jobs. That number went up 800 from October to November and increased by 500 when compared to this time last year.
  
The number of unemployment claims went up by 41 percent in Dalton in November. When compared to last November, claims were up by about 1,033 percent.
 
Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 983 active job postings in Dalton for November.
