Thelma Lea Burger Briggs, 84, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Graig.

She was born in Cleveland Tn., Nov. 19, 1937 to the late Robert and Perilee Holt Burger. She was a long time member of the Spring Place Church of God of Prophecy and loved to ride motorcycles, canning, and quilting. She was also a diehard Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James Earl Briggs; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wanda Burger; and brothers-in-law, David Pritchett, Lyndon Fain and Leon Kyle.

Thelma leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Sheila Briggs Graig (Ronnie); sisters, Drusilla Fain, Emma Pritchett Leyvonne Kyle, Mary Sue Hammontree (Lester), Martha Lawson (Bill); brother, Ray Burger (Kay); a very dear friend and love O’Dell Crisp, her motorcycle buddy. They traveled through 48 states together. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and five great-great-nephews. Last but not least, several little church buddies.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Wednesday at noon at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. with Rev. Wade Patterson, Rev. Ron Wright and Rev. Marvin Eskew officiating. Phyllis Wright will read a poem in memory of Thelma. The interment will follow at Hilcrest Cemetery with Adam, Preston and Mitch Lawson, Tim, Nate and Nick Watson serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Blake Morrow, Danny Hammontree, William Miolen and Terry Fain.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 a.mp.-12 p.m. at the funeral home.
