Carolyn DeLashmitt
Carolyn Jeanette Dyer DeLashmitt, 77, of Chattanooga died on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
She was born on November 1, 1944 in Pikeville, TN to the late JC Dyer and Vera Brown Dyer.
She was a 1962 graduate of Central High School and a lifelong member of East Chattanooga Church of God and Redemption Point Church.
She was a school bus driver for Hamilton County Schools for more than 30 years. In the later part of her career, she drove for special needs children which she very much enjoyed. She also volunteered as a driver and was proud to drive for the 1996 Olympics.
Carolyn enjoyed travel, country and gospel music, playing softball, tending her flowers, worshiping God with her church, and spending time with family. She was a big sports fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice Dyer Smith, and brother Wayne Dyer.
Survivors include her daughters Rhonda Phelps, Michelle (Kenneth) Higgins; sons Kevin (Debbie) Phelps, Carl (Jennifer) Spurgeon; sisters Charlotte Keil, Linda (Conrad) DeFriese, Peggy (Orville) Donahoo, brother Robert (Betty) Dyer, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 3:00pm, at North Chapel, with visitation from 1:00pm until service time.
