Lois “Joan” Reed Champion
Lois “Joan” Reed Champion passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 on August 10, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Born in Oliver Springs, Tn., on Aug. 23, 1945, to Robert and Wilda Reed, Joan graduated in 1963 from White Pine School. She attended Emory & Henry College and as an accomplished artist owned an art gallery in Coker Creek, Tn. At the time of her death, Joan was a real estate agent with Tellico Mountain Reality. Joan’s passion in life was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She attended Ascension Life Church, was active in Aglow Ministries, and a supporter of The House of Mercy. Joan was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, and was well loved by her family, friends, church, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of grace and style, mercy and love.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wilda Reed, husbands, William Lares and Charles Champion, and brother-in-law, Ollie Swain.
She will lovingly be remembered by her sons, Sean Lares and John David Champion, her daughter-n-law, Carol Lares, her grandchildren, Rebekah and Reed Champion, her brother, David Reed, her sister, Linda Swain, best friends Linda Morgan, Rita Sisson, Katie Goca, and a host of other friends and family members.
To honor Joan’s memory, will be holding a celebration of her life at The River of Life Ministries located in Tellico Plains, Tn. at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.
